How do I apply for ASU Chapter Membership?

Answer: All ASU students in the Department of Security Studies and Criminal Justice are eligible for membership if they meet the criteria listed below. Invitations are automatically sent out to those students once vetted by the department. However, if you feel that you meet the necessary criteria, and have not received a formal invitation via your Angelo.edu email, please click here to email the chapter president.
What is the Chapter criteria for eligibility?
Answer: To be eligible for membership in the Order of the Sword and Shield, an active student must:

Be enrolled in an academically accredited institution.

Have completed fifty percent (50%) of the credit hours required for graduation.

Be a current homeland security, intelligence, or protective security major, minor, or certificate program student.

Have an undergraduate GPA of at least 3.25 in a 4.0 system or its equivalent, or have a cumulative graduate GPA of at least 3.50 in a 4.0 system or its equivalent, or be in the top 20% of the class.

Agree to uphold the core values of excellence, knowledge, ethics, and peace.
How do I volunteer for the ASU Chapter?
